BCAP History

Bristol Community Accountancy Project was set up in 1997 to provide professional book keeping and accountancy support to voluntary sector organisations.

BCAP is a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee. It is a membership organisation and is led by an unpaid, voluntary management committee elected from the membership. BCAP is a member of the Community Accounting National Network.

Our long experience of the voluntary and community sector means that we can provide this in a way that is accessible to small groups and that respects and understands the issues they face in meeting their organisational and legal requirements.

Our policy has always been (and will continue to be) to offer the professional support needed to groups to enable them to do the job that they were set up for. The requirements made on charities now under the SORP regulations have made the management of organisations even more complex. Accounting for charities is now in many ways more complex than it is for the commercial sector.
